Rock salmon, rock eel, rigg, hake or huss are all names for dogfish, a species of small shark. These are often served as part of a ‘Fish & Chips’ meal in Britain. This includes the Spiny Dogfish, which live on average 25 to 40 years. Due to overfishing, the Spiny Dogfish is now an endangered species and is classed as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List.
